I apologize for my lack of art, but there are two reasons behind it. The first, and unimportant, is that I am lazy. The second is more important than the first and will require many paragraphs to explain.
I learned that four students (Jon, Daniel, Rianna, and Ryan) were in a car wreck. At first I just slightly sad. I figured I did not know these people, and this made the morning rather uncomfortable since everyone was crying. I left the band for my first period class. People were talking about it, and I of course had yet to put two and two together. It wasn't until second period that I realized the Jon they were talking about was my friend Jon. He had been in the backseat, along with Rianna, with Daniel driving and Ryan in the passenger seat. It turns out the wheel had gone off of the road, so Daniel jerked the wheel to get back on the road. He overcorrected it and went flying off the road, doing many rolls and flips before crashing into the trees. Jon and Rianna had not been wearing their seat belts....
They're dead.
Jon... he was one of the first band students (outside of the band room) to actually talk to me. He said, "Hey. You're the new girl, aren't you?" I had said yes and he grinned. We introduced ourselves to one another, and it was then I learned there were three Sam's in the band. I told him where I was from, and he grinned again. "I'm gonna call you Vegas girl from now on." I felt special then. It was like a little secret nickname thing that only we shared.. which was true. I generally referred to him as "you, drummer boy, or drummer dude thingy." Yesterday, he changed the number on his literature book and said that he was going to tell the teacher that he had changed it at the end of the year. He can't now. He's dead. He sailed out of that car and collided with the ground. I don't want to even think how he looked.
Rianna... I never knew her, but she had been a band student last year. Everyone said she was sweet, loving, and a kind person. I wish I knew her...
Daniel and Ryan had their seatbelts on. Thank God they're alive. Daniel has a broken collar bone and staples in the back of his neck while Ryan has a smashed nose and scrapes. Other than that they're fine. I was relieved with this news, but... Jon's gone.
I don't think I'll be on DA for a while...
